Clicking problem

At the very open, the ctrl and alt left click on the layers after making the ellipses and filling them in, like the 2nd or 3rd step.. I tried clicking on them several times and it doesn't do anything. I know, I'm not very good at this. Just figure I would ask...

hey guys im trying this tutorial but im haveing trouble at the part where after you move the green/blue oval on the second layer above they grey oval on the first layer. I can't make it only select only the grey part above where you use the burn and dodge tools. I would be greatful if someone could help me?

i apologize it might be a little confusing to beginners.. you are going to want to ctrl+click the actual layer. EXAMPLE:

1. ctrl+click the dark grey layer located below the green one in the layer pallette..

2. selection should now be made around the grey circle, now your going to hold alt+ctrl+click the layer containing the green circle..

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ALL DONE IN THE LAYER WINDOW!!!
layer is located below where the hand is pointing...
